Is it a baby hummingbird? A cute, fuzzy bug? A flying miniature lobster? SCROLL DOWN FOR THE ANSWER o_O
ANSWER: At first glance this cute and busy little critter looks like a baby hummingbird. Look at how he moves! But after further investigation I discovered this bird is a bug impostor! See the antennae and proboscis? He (or she) is a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth (Hemaris Thysbe). Yup, a diurnal moth. Cheeky little bugger!!! And much cuter than a mosquito!

It is called a hummingbird moth. They use their straw type nose to get the nectar from the centre of the flowers. We get them in our garden and have seen them on holidays

luckityduckity, i must say you have no room to talk, calling these people idiots. they are right. i work at an insectarium and aquarium and i most certainly know that this is a moth. i know its hard to believe because of its wings, but believe it or not, you dont know everything! and actually, moths arent MOSTLY all brown. they are more beautiful than butterflies.

we had these on our butterfly bush, they are called hummingbird moths… ps there is no such thing as a baby moth.. that would be a caterpillar… :0) They are in the hawkmoth catagory. There are a couple varieties. Moths have feathery antenna, butterflies have smooth antenna Corysod is right.

Some hawk moths, like the hummingbird hawk moth, hover in midair while they feed on nectar from flowers and are sometimes mistaken for hummingbirds.
